It is vital to change the electoral system in Ukraine and to switch to an open list system that will ensure maximum compliance with the will of the citizens. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced on air of "24 channel" on Wednesday, April 20.

"Unless we change the Law On Election, I consider it an exaggeration to talk about the ballot that would allegedly comply with the choice of people", said Volodymyr Groysman. He views it an optimal system for Ukraine an open list voting system.

The Prime Minister noted that the debate on this issue is ongoing, as views of the political forces differ. At the same time Volodymyr Groysman assured that he would work with MPs of Ukraine and the parliamentary factions on finding an acceptable model of the electoral system. "I speak with absolute honesty, I will endeavor to have such a Law developed, as we need it", said the Head of Government.

"It is important for us to prevent the elections of particular people as they have been formed in the office of a political party. This is vital," stressed the Prime Minister.

Apart from that, the Head of the Government highlighted that he would contribute to maintaining the system of balance among the branches of power in Ukraine. "Balance and parity of power is always necessary. There should be responsibility [of all branches]. This is important for our state," said Volodymyr Groysman.
