The Energy Strategy
of Ukraine until 2035 adopted this year is
being already implemented, stressed Sergiy Savchuk, Chairman of the
State Agency on Energy Efficiency
and Energy Saving of Ukraine
(SAEE), at the international forum «Open Energy Week».
According to the Chairman of the
SAEE, the goals of the Energy
Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 are in line
with the tasks of the
National Renewable Energy and Energy
Efficiency Action Plan until 2020, which was adopted
in 2014-2015. Since then, many reforms
have been introduced and significant progress has been made.
The said programmes
encapsulate improving of «green tariffs»,
launching the ESCO market, launching large-scale insulation of households, introducing energy management in the
budget sphere and other achievements.
Sergiy Savchuk emphasized
the achievements of the last
few years have unveiled that
Ukraine is dynamically moving towards reducing energy consumption, replacing gas with
renewable energy sources and also
added that the next step
will be the
introduction of a European mechanism to stimulate industrial
enterprises to use energy-efficient appliances. This approach is
based on a carbon tax, which
in many EU countries motivates companies to implement
energy efficiency measures and to
install alternative sources of energy.
