Hennadii Zubko: Germany is ready to provide additional 10 million euros for Energy Efficiency Fund projects and 4 million euros for energy auditors training

SERVICE OF THE VICE PRIME MINISTER OF UKRAINE

Germany is poised to sign an agreement with IFC (a member of the World Bank Group) on allocation of another 10 million euros to the Multi-Donor Fund in order to co-finance the Energy Efficiency Fund projects in Ukraine. Energy efficiency is one of the reforms on the agenda during the talks between President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.

"The Government of Germany also agreed to implement the project of technical assistance to Ukraine on the training of professional energy auditors and training of experts of the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund in the amount of 4 million euros. We thank the German side for the systematic support of the energy efficiency reform in Ukraine as well as the creation of the Energy Efficiency Fund", the Vice Prime Minister stressed.

"It is worth mentioning that the Energy Efficiency Fund is a far-reaching and important tool for funding energy efficiency in the residential sector. The work of the Fund is also aimed at implementing the EU - Ukraine Agreement and ensuring Ukraine fulfills its international obligations in the field of energy efficiency. The Energy Efficiency Fund was created with the support of international partners - the European Union and Germany. A sum worth UAH 1.6. billion for financing Energy Efficiency Fund is planned in this year's state budget.

The Vice Prime Minister stressed the readiness of the European Union to provide assistance for the Fund and he added that technical support of the Fund is of utmost importance.
